Terms of use

Last updated: 29 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Zactonz Technologies, the company in Lahore, Pakistan that runs NeatPencil at neatpencil.com. By using the site you agree to them, so please read them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use NeatPencil.

In short

  • NeatPencil is free. There’s no account and nothing to pay.
  • You can make, print and share worksheets for teaching, including in paid lessons. Please don’t sell the worksheets themselves.
  • The names you type stay on your device. We never see them.
  • The handwriting styles are modelled on school styles, not official versions. Check a page against your school’s chart.
  • The site is provided as is, and our liability is limited as far as the law allows.
  • The law of Pakistan applies, but if you’re a consumer you keep the protections your own country’s law gives you.

This summary is a guide. The numbered sections below are the terms.

1. Who we are

NeatPencil is run by Zactonz Technologies (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in Lahore, Pakistan. You can reach us at [email protected]. “You” means the person using NeatPencil and, if you use it for a school or other organisation, that organisation too.

2. Who can use NeatPencil

NeatPencil is made for adults: teachers, parents and carers, tutors, homeschoolers and therapists. To use it you must be 18 or over, or the age of majority where you live if that’s older. Children use the printed worksheets, with an adult choosing them and supervising; the site isn’t designed for children to use on their own.

If you use NeatPencil on behalf of a school or other organisation, you confirm that you’re allowed to accept these terms for it.

3. The service

NeatPencil is free to use, with no account or payment. We keep improving it, so we may change, add or remove features, worksheet types and handwriting styles, and we may suspend or close the site. We’ll try to give notice of big changes on the site, but we can’t promise to.

We work to keep NeatPencil fast and reliable, but we don’t promise that it will always be available, free of errors, or work with every device, browser or printer.

4. Using the worksheets you make

As long as you follow these terms, we give you a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to make, print, copy and share worksheets from NeatPencil for teaching and learning. You may:

  • print and copy them for your class, school, family, tutoring, therapy or homeschool group;
  • share printouts and PDF files with your students, their families and your colleagues, including on a closed class platform such as Google Classroom or Seesaw;
  • use them in lessons, tutoring or therapy sessions you’re paid for.

You may not:

  • sell or license the worksheets themselves, on their own or in packs, bundles or books, including on marketplaces such as Teachers Pay Teachers or Etsy;
  • publish them on a public website or social media as a collection for others to download;
  • present the worksheets, or our drawings or guides, as your own product.

If you’d like to use worksheets in a way this section doesn’t cover, ask us first.

5. What you type

The names and words you type are processed in your browser and never sent to us, as our privacy policy explains. That means we can’t see or check them. You’re responsible for what you type, for the worksheets you make and for how you use them. Please don’t use NeatPencil to make anything unlawful, abusive or hateful, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights. When you type children’s names, follow your school’s or organisation’s rules on using them.

6. Acceptable use

When you use NeatPencil, please don’t:

  • break the law, or use the site to help anyone else do so;
  • try to gain unauthorised access to the site or its server, or probe, scan or test their security without our written permission;
  • interfere with the site or other people’s use of it, for example by overloading it with automated or bulk requests;
  • scrape, copy, frame or mirror the site, its tools or its content, or use them to build a competing service, apart from normal indexing by search engines;
  • use our content, including the guides, drawings and worksheets, to train machine-learning or AI models without our written permission;
  • reverse-engineer the site’s software, except where the law allows it;
  • introduce viruses or other harmful code;
  • suggest that you’re connected with NeatPencil, or that we endorse you, when that isn’t true.

7. Our content and intellectual property

The NeatPencil name and logo, the guides, page text, shape and picture drawings, worksheet layouts and the site’s design and code belong to Zactonz Technologies or the people who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright and other laws. Apart from the licence in section 4, and what the law allows anyway (such as linking to our pages or quoting a short passage with credit), these terms don’t give you any rights in them.

The handwriting fonts belong to their designers and are used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1; see our font credits. Names of handwriting programs and school styles, and trademarks such as D’Nealian, belong to their owners and are used only to describe a style. To report material you believe infringes your copyright, see our copyright and DMCA page.

8. Handwriting styles and guides

The worksheet styles are modelled on school handwriting styles. Apart from Playwrite NZ Basic, which is part of the font family New Zealand’s Ministry of Education uses, they aren’t the official fonts of any education department or handwriting program, and NeatPencil isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by any of them. Check worksheets against your school’s program before you use them.

Our guides are general information for teachers and parents, not professional advice, and can’t take account of a particular child. For concerns about a child’s handwriting or development, speak to their teacher, an occupational therapist or a doctor. Our disclaimer explains more.

9. Privacy and cookies

Our privacy policy explains what information is handled when you use NeatPencil, and our cookie policy explains what the site keeps in your browser.

10. Advertising and other websites

We plan to keep NeatPencil free by showing display advertising, such as Google AdSense. Ad networks choose the ads, not us, and showing an ad doesn’t mean we recommend what it offers. Anything you agree with an advertiser is between you and them. Ads will never appear on the worksheets you print.

Our guides link to other websites, such as education departments and research. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.

11. Feedback

We welcome ideas, bug reports and notes on letter shapes. If you send us feedback, we may use it to improve NeatPencil without owing you anything for it. Please don’t send us anything confidential.

12. No warranties

NeatPencil, its worksheets and its guides are provided free, “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no promises and give no warranties about them, whether express or implied, including that they are accurate, complete, of satisfactory quality, fit for a particular purpose or free of errors. Please check worksheets before you print a full set.

13. Limits on our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that the law doesn’t allow us to exclude or limit. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and the rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.

Subject to that, we aren’t liable for:

  • any indirect or consequential loss;
  • any loss of profit, income, business, opportunity or goodwill;
  • any loss of data, including lists of names or words you typed, which are kept only on your device;
  • wasted paper, ink or time, for example from printer settings or a style that doesn’t match your school’s;
  • any loss caused by events outside our reasonable control.

Because NeatPencil is free, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with it, whether in contract, negligence or otherwise, is limited to US$100.

14. Your responsibility for misuse

If you use NeatPencil in breach of these terms or the law, for example by selling worksheets made here, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable losses and costs that result. This applies only as far as the law where you live allows.

15. Suspending access

We may restrict or block access to NeatPencil, for example from particular networks, if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken or to protect the site and its visitors. You can stop using NeatPencil at any time. Sections 4 (what you may not do with worksheets), 7 and 11 to 18 continue to apply after that.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or advertising, or when the law changes. We’ll publish the new version on this page with a new date at the top, and describe significant changes here when they happen. Changes apply from the date they’re published and don’t affect a dispute that has already started. If you keep using NeatPencil after a change, you accept the new terms; if you don’t agree, please stop using the site.

17. Law and disputes

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or with NeatPencil (including non-contractual disputes), are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts at Lahore have jurisdiction.

If you’re a consumer living in another country, such as the United Kingdom, a European Union country, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United States, this choice of law doesn’t take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may also be able to bring a claim in your local courts.

If you have a complaint, please email us first and give us 30 days to put it right. Most problems can be solved that way.

18. General

  • Whole agreement. These terms, together with our privacy policy, cookie policy, copyright and DMCA page and disclaimer, are the whole agreement between you and us about NeatPencil.
  • If part is invalid. If a court decides that part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • No waiver. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, for example if NeatPencil is sold. This won’t reduce your rights. You may not transfer yours.
  • Events outside our control. We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages at our hosting provider.
  • No third-party rights. Only you and we can enforce these terms.
  • Language. These terms are written in English. If they’re ever translated, the English version applies.
